چکیده

TETRA outdoor large-scale received signal prediction model is presented here. The model follows log-distance model. It is derived based on received signal strength survey measurements of a TETRA system, operating in the 300-400 MHz band, in Riyadh city. The model is aimed to assist practicing engineers in the estimation of received power, or electric field strength as well as path-loss at any given distance from the base station or vice versa. The model exponent (n) for the selected routes is found to be 3 ± 0.7. However, the overall value of n for urban area in the Riyadh city is found to be 3.22. It is noted that the values of n obtained here are low, compared to values obtained in several European cities, as the streets are wider and the buildings’ heights are lower in most parts of the routes in Riyadh.

Prediction of outdoor and outdoor-to-indoor coverage in urban areas at 1.8 GHz

A run-time efficient three-dimensional radio propagation prediction model is presented in this paper. The model allows mobile network operators to predict the outdoor and the outdoor-to-indoor coverage in dense urban areas using one general prediction model. It integrates almost all relevant propagation phenomena in dense urban areas with an accuracy comparable to the results of dedicated predi...

Repeatability of large-scale signal variations in urban environments - Vehicular Technology Conference, 2003. VTC 2003-Fall. 2003 IEEE 58th

This paper quantifies the repeatability of largescale signal variations in an urban propagation environment. We propose a model and use field measurements taken in downtown San Francisco to quantify how similar the received signals appear when a mobile receiver revisits the same general area. The results establish bounds for repeated measurements within a given street that are taken on differen...

Adjacent Channel Interference Analyses in TETRA Direct Mode Operation

The present paper analyzes adjacent channel interference in TETRA Direct Mode Operation (DMO) for indoor and outdoor environments. To determine minimal stay-away distance and interference area propagation model is used. Thus, a brief overview of free space, Bacon and CEPT SE21 propagation models, mentioned in the TETRA DMO standard is given and two-ray and multi-wall models are described and ev...

Characterizations of Narrowband MIMO Channels

Computational electromagnetics are useful for examining communication link performance in complex propagation environments. In this paper we illustrate how different characterizations of narrowband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels, including the mutual information, received power, and effective rank, behave as a function of location. Large-scale simulation results are presented fo...

Psychrometric chart as a basis for outdoor thermal analysis

Preparing thermal comfort conditions in outdoor public spaces is one of the considerations of architectural design. If the constructed area does not support comfortable conditions in outdoor spaces, it will cause microclimatic problems for pedestrians and adjacent buildings. Regarding the different thermal comfort conditions in outdoor spaces in comparison with indoor, several indices have b...
